Our Selection of Great Restaurants
Every day, on social media, we read about potential visitors to Bali asking about Bali Belly. Bali Belly was and, tosome extent still is, a result of the infrastructure to cope with the numbers of people visiting Bali. In Lovina, thanks to forward thinking local government, the infrastructure has been growing with the increase in visitors since the early 1970s and we just don't get Bali Belly.
Whilst Aroha Villa has been fitted out with an extensive kitchen and bespoke dining facilities almost everyone dines out in the evening. There are many restaurants of varying location, food quality, decor and service.
The ones we have commented on below are the ones we frequent all the time.
Billys D' Desa. 10/10
Not quite in Lovina, but you will pass it on the way. Billy's D' Desa is a charming café set in a peaceful village. The reason we have included it is that we would never go past with out going in.
The ambiance is almost beyond belief, Balinese art and carvings are everywhere. The gardens, featuring rare tropical fruit trees and fish ponds, are amazing
The rustic wooden décor and open-air seating provide a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for enjoying the surrounding countryside views.
You must not pass this place without visiting.
Spice Beach Club (Our favourite). 10/10
With its prime location right on the shores of the Bali Sea, it offers breathtaking sunset views, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing evening by the ocean.
The club features a blend of modern and traditional Balinese architecture, creating a laid-back yet sophisticated ambiance. The menu at Spice Beach Club includes a variety of international and local dishes, ranging from fresh seafood and grilled meats to tropical cocktails and signature Balinese specialties.
Mentari Restaurant and Bar 8/10
Located on the beach in the heart of Lovina, North Bali, the restaurant offers a peaceful setting surrounded by lush greenery, creating an inviting and serene dining experience.
The menu at Mentari features a variety of Balinese dishes, fresh seafood, and Western favorites, making it a versatile choice for all tastes. The restaurant is praised for its friendly service, affordable prices, and attention to detail in presentation.
10th Table 10/10
Located 1 kilometer west of Lovina this has to be one of the best small restaurants in Bali. It has 9 tables seating up to 6 people plus a side room with a relatively large party table - The 10th Table. It is undeniably fine dining with prices 25% of the same fare in Australia or New Zealand.
Visit The 10th Table to taste good ribeye, French onion soup and poached cod. The truth is that you will really like tasty chocolate cakes, vanilla ice cream and panna cotta. Most likely, you'll return to this place later to order delicious wine or good martinis.
Pamper yourself at least one night by booking a table.
Secret Garden 10/10
Secret Garden Restaurant in Lovina is a hidden gem offering a tranquil and intimate dining experience. Nestled in a lush, tropical setting, it provides guests with a serene escape from the bustling tourist spots, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal surrounded by nature.
The restaurant specializes in a mix of Balinese and international cuisine, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The menu includes a range of dishes, from traditional Balinese fare like ayam betutu and babi guling, to western favorites such as steaks, salads, and pasta.
There are many other good restaurants in and around Lovina to suit your Budget. When we are staying in the Villa we visit many others, however the ones we have listed above are our regular favourites.
